The Chapel was abuzz with the gathering of athletes, coaches, teachers and family members, all joining in community to celebrate our fall athletes. Director of Athletics Pete Hutchins offered a warm welcome and extended gratitude to the many individuals who made the fall Varsity season possible – including Assistant to the Director of Athletics Caitlyn Schooner, the WRA Communications Office, the Technology team, Equipment Manager Dan Medkeff, the athletic trainers, security and facilities team members and members of the Reserve Sports Network. “Thank you for your time, expertise and support,” said Hutchins. It is this extended WRA community that affords our athletes the opportunity to compete.

Coaches and athletes from Golf, Esports, Girls Tennis, Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Volleyball, Field Hockey and their many fans filled the rows to celebrate a successful season. Hutchins shared the following season highlights – the Boys Varsity Cross Country team enjoyed the most successful season in recent memory, the Girls Varsity Soccer team was named Tri-County Champions and the Girls Varsity Soccer Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics Tara Bowen was named Tri-County Coach of the Year. Congratulations!

While there is no single secret that guarantees success, the following qualities are essential and also consistently displayed by Western Reserve Academy student-athletes. The leaders on our fields, courts, in the weight room, on our trails and in our classrooms are passionate, focused, level-headed, positive and dedicated. These individuals set goals, train hard, motivate and lift up following potential setbacks. They are an inspiration to team members and a testament to the quality of Reserve’s programming. Success in sports can take many forms, and is not solely defined by awards, records and championships. Each Western Reserve Academy athlete shares a similar path of shared respect, achievement and growth. The Fall Athletics Award Ceremony offers our community the opportunity to pause and recognize the exceptional talent displayed across each team and to honor the guidance offered by dedicated coaches, trainers and support staff. Congratulations athletes and Go Pios!
