Our College Counselors help students assess their individual abilities, talents, interests and aspirations, and then provide the knowledge, guidance and support for them to identify and seek college admission.

And it starts from the very beginning. Our freshmen are dipping their toes into the college admission process. At the same time, our college counselors are paying close attention to their growth and journey, so that by the time freshmen become upperclassmen, our students are more at ease with the process and our counselors already know them, inside and out.

Strengths, Accomplishments & Development

WRA has long been a recognized leader in student advocacy in the college process, a fact highlighted by our unique committee-written letters of recommendation, emphasizing students’ personal strengths, accomplishments and development during their time at Reserve.

And when our students receive that letter that begins with our favorite words — “We are pleased to inform you…” — we are ready to celebrate with them. Their selected college is printed and planted in our pennant garden, and every May event (the Color Run, Summer Send Off and, of course, Commencement) feels all the more aglow with joy.

College Visits & Tours

Available to sophomores and juniors, the WRA College Counseling Office partners with College Visits to provide students with robust campus tours around the country. Past trips have included visits to the Southeast and New England area during school breaks.

Admission Rep Visits

Sometimes, the colleges come to you! We offer a robust schedule of College Admission Representative Visits, where students can sign up to meet with an admission rep from a college they’re considering — or just want to learn more about! These sessions are held in our dining hall over dinner. We also host two annual College Fairs as additional opportunities for students to learn about even more college options.
