You don’t have to be a certain age to be a leader. Opportunities to inspire others, do more, learn more and be more are embedded in our Reserve culture and open to everyone.
Maybe you’ll captain a team, sit on the honor council, act as a prefect in your dorm (like a college Resident Assistant) or work as a campus ambassador with the Admission Office. Or, maybe you’ll start a new club, to push your passion and add to our list of over 50 opportunities gather, grow and lead.
Authentic Leadership Opportunities
Study Body Co-Presidents run Morning Meeting in the Chapel twice a week and help run the weekly Student Council meetings.
At Western Reserve Academy, our Chief Ambassadors are ready to answer all your questions about life at Reserve. This dedicated group hosts campus tours, helps new students settle in, and shares their own experiences as Pioneers. Our Chief Ambassadors will show you everything this school has to offer and why they made Reserve their second home.
Our Service Leaders run most of our annual programming. So in addition to supporting dozens of local not-for-profit organizations through community service, Service Leaders also run several major school fundraisers. They run Penny Wars for The Akron Canton Food Bank, World Book Day for The Cleveland Book Bank, and the annual May Color Run that benefits the Pine Ridge Reservation, where select students travel for a service trip each summer.
Dorm prefects work alongside the Dorm Heads and serve as mentors, older siblings if you will, for other boarders. Whether it is coming up with a fun idea for a dorm gathering, helping a younger boarder problem solve, serving a weekly night of dorm duty or running the announcements at Sitdown Dinner, the Dorm Prefects serve a critical role in WRA’s 10 dorms.
Day Prefects represent the day students and along with helping to orient the new day students, Day Prefects are charged with organizing fun activities to bring day students together. Similar to the dorm prefects, day prefects serve as mentors to younger day students and help proctor evening Study Hall.
Pioneer Leaders, along with the Assistant Dean of Student Life, head the event planning process for campus-wide events. Pioneer Leaders will develop ideas, orchestrate the overall production of events, working both individually and cooperatively. This energetic, school spirited, hardworking, and motivated group has members from each class.
Class Officers, two per grade, are elected by their peers. These leaders help plan class events and activities and work with their Class Dean to help their class bond. They are the go-to leaders for their class and represent their class at Student Council meetings.
