Homecoming Weekend
Draws a Big Crowd

Back for Homecoming Weekend's Soccer Celebration, soccer alum Bruce
Baker '79 chats with Dale Conly and Shawn Conly '86.
Homecoming 2006, blessed with picture-perfect fall weather, drew
more than 136 alumni and guests to campus on October 6 and 7, adding
to those also in attendance for the Parents' Weekend festivities.
While official Homecoming activities were scheduled only on Saturday,
some alumni came early and attended the annual Parents' Weekend/Dads
Club Giant Family Party and auction as well as a special soccer
event.
On Saturday, alumni, students and parents mingled during a picnic
lunch before heading off to the nine athletic contests scheduled
on the Pioneers’ home turf. Many then reconvened for post-game
cider and doughnuts at the Murdough Athletic Center.

Soccer players and alumni say a special soccer
prayer before the boys varsity team takes on University School over
Homecoming Weekend.
A highlight of the weekend was the 80th Anniversary/1000th Game
Soccer Celebration. The boys varsity soccer team prevailed over
University School by a score of 2-0. And, Reserve defeated Lake
Forest 17-6 in football, while the girls varsity soccer team fell
to Hathaway Brown. Visit the Scoreboard
for results from Homecoming 2006 athletic events. For photos and
a weekend summary, visit the Recent
Event Highlights page.
Special note to soccer alumni from Herb Haller, boys varsity
coach: If you were not able to attend
the recent Soccer Celebration, Coach Haller would still like to
stay in touch with you. Please send your e-mail and phone number
to hallerh@wra.net.
Career
Network Seeks 66 Additional Volunteers
We are one-third of the way to our goal for this year of recruiting
100 alumni to serve as volunteers for the Alumni Association Board's
Online
Career Network. If you wouldn't mind donating an hour or so
several times a year, you're perfect for the job. Do you love what
you do? Would you be happy to chat with a Reserve alumnus/a –
especially college-age Reserve graduates – about your profession
and/or career path? Then volunteer today. Just use your Online Alumni
Directory login ID and password and sign
up to be a career network volunteer.

…or not. Working or not. SLR, Rangefinder, Brownie or box.
It matters not. If you have an older camera lying around that you
no longer need or want, Reserve art and photography faculty
master Alan Doe can use it as part of his course curriculum.
He is particularly interested in old 35 mm cameras and accessories,
especially SLRs with inter-changeable lenses. "Those solid
cameras from the '60s are great teaching tools," Alan says.
If you have a camera to donate, please send an e-mail to doea@wra.net.
Regional

Ask
Jeeves – Better Yet, Ask Tom Vince!
Wondering what happened to a particular faculty master? Looking
for a picture from a memorable play or musical? Is there something
you just can't quite remember about your years at Reserve? Ask Reserve's
archivist and historian, Tom Vince, and the answer to your question
may turn up on a new blog Vince started this September.
Take a moment and visit Vince's
blog now. Or, send a note to Mr. Vince at vincet@wra.net
and see if your inquiry becomes an upcoming topic.

Stay
Connected: Post Your Class Notes Online
You've been asking us for this new service: Online Class
Notes. It's ready to go and people are already posting notes. Don't
wait. Use your Alumni Directory login information
and choose the Class Notes link from this
page to post a note today.
Here are five great reasons to go online with your notes:
• You're looking for a lost classmate. Maybe someone is in
touch with him or her.
• It's your reunion year (2s and 7s) and you wonder if anyone
else is thinking about going.
• You want to know when someone last saw or talked to Senor
Fraser or another longtime faculty master.
• You're planning to go to the Reunion Weekend golf outing
and want to know if any of your classmates play.
• Congratulations on your recent marriage! Share the news.
(You can do that online and also indicate that you want your news
note submitted to the Reserve Alumni Record magazine, too.)
• You just came back from Paris, and wow, is it a small world!
You saw a Reserve alum from the class that graduated ahead of you
walking towards you as you were entering the Louvre. Unbelievable!
And if it's your reunion year, there's no better time to start thinking
about your classmates and your plans. Search notes by class year
and see what's posted. Then add your comments.

Reunion
2006 Survey Highlights
Thanks to all who attended Reunion Weekend in June and then took
the post-reunion online survey. Here are several survey highlights
we'd like to share:
• Several guests offered the following suggestion for future
reunions: have a faculty forum where panelists discuss the school
today and answer alumni questions.
• From a list of suggested activities for next year, the idea
of a wine tasting got a big response (see graphic).
• Saturday evening individual class dinners were a huge hit
(see graphic). So, don't wait. If your class ends in "2"
or "7" – start planning now to attend reunion on
June 8-10, 2007.
